This is a 7 Day tour that takes you deep into Kenya’s wilderness for those looking for a true wildlife safari in search of some of the country’s most elusive and endangered species. You will begin with Meru National Park where red soil is complimented by lush streams, rocky outcrops and towering Doum & Raffia palm trees. A few hours drive away takes you to the heart of northern Kenya. Samburu Game Reserve, home to leopard, lions, crocodiles and hippos and the Samburu special five-The Oryx, Gerenuk, Somali Ostrich, Grevy’s zebra and the reticulated Giraffe

Ol Pejeta conservancy, famous for the last three northern white rhinos in the world and the conservancy with the largest rhino population in Kenya. Ol Pejeta is home to the “Big Five” of Africa- The Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino.

This is a true African safari, you will be visiting some of the least visited parks in Kenya.

Stay at the Elsa’s Kopje in Meru, the Elephant Bedroom camp in Samburu and the Serena Sweet Waters Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Meru

Our Driver-guide will pick you up from Nairobi hotel/ JKIA airport and drive to the Meru National park, a 4.0 Hours drive in Normal traffic. On this day you will enjoy a game drive en route to the lodge and an evening game drive. The park is famous for it lions, and is especially associated with Elsa the Lioness and the film Born Free, a 1966 Technicolor British drama film starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as Joy and George Adamson, a real-life couple who raised Elsa, an orphaned lion cub, to adulthood. Some of Kenya’s largest herds of buffalo are found here and so is the elusive leopard. Other animals you can look forward to seeing include. cheetah, hippo, zebra, giraffe, hartebeest,oryx, oribi, waterbuck, … and abundant birdlife with over 400 recorded species. All meals, Dinner and overnight at the Elsa's Kopje Tented Camp. Meal plan: BLD.

Spend the full day in the Meru National Park with morning and afternoon game drive. Meru was made famous by the book and film Born free that recounted the story of the lives of George and Joy Adamson, and the lioness, Elsa. Wild animals to be spotted in Meru National Park include; large herds of Buffalo, Bushbuck, Eland, Duiker, Elephant, Gazelle, Giraffe, Genet, Hartebeest, Kudu, Impala, Waterbuck and Gravy Zebra. You will also spot the Baboons, Jackal, Hyena, Kudu, Lion, Oryx, Mongoose, Oribi, Vervet Monkeys, and Warthogs. In addition, you may see Wild dog, Caracal, Bushbaby, Cheetah, Dik-dik, Civet, Leopard, Bushpig, Otter, Porcupine, Black, and White Rhino. Along the rivers, you will see abundant Hippo and Crocodiles. Birdlife includes Peter’s fin foot which inhabits the Murera and Ura Rivers, the Pel’s Fishing Owl, Rollers, Bee-eaters, Kingfishers, Starlings, and numerous Weavers. You will also visit the Former home of Joy and George Adamson, Adamson’s falls, the grave of Elsa the lioness Dinner and overnight at Elsa's Kopje Camp.

Day 3: Meru National Park to Samburu Game Reserve

Depart Meru National park after breakfast and drive for approximately 3 Hours to the Samburu Game reserve. Upon arrival at Samburu, have a game drive en route to the elephant bedroom camp for lunch. After lunch, relax until 4.00 p.m time for your evening game drive. At 6.00 p.m, return to the elephant bedroom camp for dinner and overnight. Samburu is famous for the rare and unusual reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk, Colobus monkey, beisa oryx and Grevy’s zebra.The Ashnil Samburu Camp offers spectacular opportunities to see the elephants close-up. {Meal Plan; Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner}

Day 4: Samburu Game Reserve full day

An early morning game drive is followed by breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, have a full day game viewing with an optional Bush lunch. Explore Samburu and its rare animal species as well as the Samburu people’s culture. Later in the evening return to the Elephant Bedroom Camp for dinner and overnight. {Meal Plan; Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner}

Day 5: Samburu Game reserve to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Depart Samburu after breakfast and drive to the Ol Pejeta conservancy, Nanyuki a drive that will take approximately 2.45 Minutes. On Arrival, proceed to the Serena sweet waters camp with a game drive en route. Lunch followed by an afternoon game drive at 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. Dinner and overnight at the Serena Sweet waters camp.

Day 6: Ol Pejeta full day

On this day we explore exotic Ol Pejeta conservancy on two extensive game runs, one in the morning and the other one the evening in between you will have a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary. Lunch will be at the Serena Sweetwaters Camp, The camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe and myriad plains game. Proceed with your afternoon game drive until 6.00 p.m. for Dinner and Overnight stay at the Serena Sweetwaters Camp. Meal Plan {Full Board} Among activities you can engage in include night game drives, Lion tracking, Horse riding, Camel riding and birdwatching with a professional guide.

Day 7: Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Nairobi

Have your early morning game drive at 0630 to 0830 Hrs followed by breakfast. Depart Ol Pejeta after breakfast and drive to Nairobi arriving in good time for lunch. Drop off at your City hotel

Your tour will conclude in San Francisco on Day 8 of the trip. There are no activities planned for this day so you're free to depart at any time. We highly recommend booking post-accommodation to give yourself time to fully experience the wonders of this iconic city!

Day 1 of this tour is an arrivals day, which gives you a chance to settle into your hotel and explore Los Angeles. The only planned activity for this day is an evening welcome meeting at 7pm, where you can get to know your guides and fellow travellers. Please be aware that the meeting point is subject to change until your final documents are released.
